Built in 1861, the Warehouse Building that houses the Jacksonville Mercantile has gone through many transformations over the years. The building was home to a tavern, a general store, the local grocer, a newspaper, a bookstore and a museum. Now the Jacksonville Mercantile is known as a culinary landmark – renowned for its popular mix of quality specialty foods and knowledgeable, friendly staff.
The Jacksonville Mercantile is a European style market which displays the world's finest specialty foods, herbs, honeys, mustards, spices and chocolates. Also find products such as artisan cheeses, baked goods and imported items. The owners, Constance and David Jesser, have selected each product based on taste, quality and uniqueness.
